Oxidation is a chemical reaction where electrons are moved from one reaction partner to another. Basically the connection of elements with oxygen is described by this procedure. Energy is unleashed and oxides are produced. Every burning process is a oxidation treatment.
In the field of decontamination the oxidation is used for the integration of oxygen into a persistent pollutant to change its structure in a way that a complete destruction of the pollutant without residues is possible. Different substances can be used as oxidant. Wide applications have pure oxygen, ozone, hydrogen peroxide or permanganate. The use of UV-light with special emission spectra can also lead to an oxidation process.
Depending on the pollutant different oxidation techniques are applied at Delta Umwelt-Technik GmbH.
